Job Title: Professor, group leader

Job Summary: Professor will be the leader of the Molecular Beam Epitaxy Group ON6.2/MagTop and head of the MBE Laboratory. Researchers from the MBE Group at MagTop are focusing on developing MBE growth technologies for various types of epilayers and nanostructures with topological characteristics. Continuation and development of ON6/MagTop activity described in its agenda.

Job Description: The International Centre for Interfacing Magnetism and Superconductivity with Topological Matter – MagTop is the Division (ON-6) of the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences and is aimed as the Division which will continue activity of the center funded by a grant awarded to Professors Tomasz Dietl and Tomasz Wojtowicz within the International Research Agendas programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, carried out from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund under the Smart Growth Operational Programme (SG OP), Priority Axis 4: Increasing the research potential, Measure 4.3: International Research Agendas . Researchers in the Group will focus on growth of epilayers and nanostructures with topological characteristics, composed of both II-VI (e.g. based on CdTe and HgTe), IV-VI semiconductors (such as. e.g. topological crystalline insulators based on SnTe and SnSe) and elemental α-Sn. Particular emphasis will be placed on in situ and ex situ interfacing of topological materials with ferromagnetism and superconductivity, via doping and deposition of overlayers.

Profile of candidate for the position:

Scientific title of professor in physics or material sciences
Relevant scientific experience in the area of the growth of materials using MBE method and in experimental studies of topological matter, documented by publications
MBE lab management experience
Experience in building, developing and managing an MBE lab
Experience in leading an MBE research group
Experience in acquiring and leading research projects
Formal possibility to supervise PhD thesis
Fluent spoken and written English

Career Stage: Experienced researcher

Research Profile (details): Leading Researcher (R4)

Type of Contract: employment for an indefinite period, starting on January 1^st, 2024

Status: Half-time

Salary: up to 3 650 PLN gross basic salary per month for half-time employment
