Job Title: Professor of the Institute of Physics PAS

Job Summary: Professor will be involved in the theoretical studies of topological materials in cooperation with experimental group of ON6. Continuation and development of ON6/MagTop activity described in its agenda.

Job Description:

The International Centre for Interfacing Magnetism and Superconductivity with Topological Matter – MagTop is the Division (ON-6) of the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences  and is aimed as the Division which will continue activity of the center funded by a grant awarded to Professors Tomasz Dietl and Tomasz Wojtowicz within the International Research Agendas programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, carried out from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund under the Smart Growth Operational  Programme (SG OP), Priority Axis 4: Increasing the research potential, Measure 4.3: International Research Agendas . Research of candidate is expected to focus on topological effect in condensed matter systems: Majorana spintronics in systems that interface superconductivity and magnetism with topological matter, spontaneous time-reversal symmetry breaking in electron-hole bilayers, machine-learning assisted identification of topological phases, topological properties of open quantum systems, topological phases in SnTe materials, and correlated states and topological phases in flat-band systems such as twisted bilayer graphene.

Profile of candidate for the position:

  1. Scientific title of professor or habilitation in physics
  2. Relevant scientific experience in theoretical studies of topological matter, documented by publications
  3. Fluent spoken and written English

Research Profile (details): Leading Researcher (R4) or Established Researcher (R3)

Type of Contract: employment for an indefinite period, starting on January 1st, 2024

Status: full time

Salary: up to 6 700 PLN gross basic salary per month (1 460 € per month)
